How to Do a Hard Refresh & Clear Cache on All Devices

Sometimes, your browser or app may display outdated information. Doing a hard refresh or clearing cache ensures you are viewing the latest version. Follow the instructions below for your device.


1. Hard Refresh:

A hard refresh forces your browser to reload the page and fetch the latest content.

Google Chrome on Windows

  • Hold down Ctrl + Shift and press R.

  • The entire screen should refresh.

Google Chrome on Mac

  • Hold down Command (⌘) + Shift and press R.

  • The entire screen should refresh.

Alternative

  • Log out and close all browser windows.

  • Open a completely new Chrome browser and log back in.


2. Clearing Chrome & App Cache

A. Windows (10 / 11)

Chrome Cache

  1. Open Chrome.

  2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete.

  3. In the pop-up, select All time under “Time range.”

  4. Check Cached images and files.

  5. Click Clear data.

App Cache (Windows apps)

  1. Go to Start → Settings → Apps → Apps & features.

  2. Select the app → click Advanced options.

  3. Choose Reset (this clears the cache and resets the app).


B. macOS (MacBook / iMac)

Chrome Cache

  1. Open Chrome.

  2. Press ⌘ + Shift + Delete.

  3. Choose All time as the time range.

  4. Select Cached images and files.

  5. Click Clear data.

App Cache (Mac apps)

  1. Open Finder and press ⌘ + Shift + G.

  2. Type ~/Library/Caches and click Go.

  3. Open the folder for the specific app and delete its contents (do not delete the folder itself).

  4. Empty Trash to finish.


C. iPhone / iPad (iOS)

Chrome Cache

  1. Open the Chrome app.

  2. Tap the menu () → History.

  3. Tap Clear Browsing Data…

  4. Select Cached images and files, choose All Time, and tap Clear Browsing Data.

App Cache (per app)

  1. Go to Settings → General → iPhone Storage.

  2. Select the app.

  3. Tap Offload App (keeps documents, clears app cache) OR Delete App (removes app + cache).

  4. Reinstall the app from the App Store if needed.


D. Android

Chrome Cache

  1. Open the Chrome app.

  2. Tap the menu () → History.

  3. Tap Clear browsing data.

  4. Select Cached images and files, choose All Time, and tap Clear data.

App Cache (per app)

  1. Go to Settings → Apps (or Apps & notifications).

  2. Select the app.

  3. Tap Storage & cache (or Storage).

  4. Tap Clear cache.
