Overview
Lodging-based services, such as boarding, are used for multi-day bookings where staff assign a pet to a run for the duration of their stay. Appointment availability for lodging-based services is based on the number of runs in a facility (or number of spots in an area if you offer cage-free boarding). Lodging-based services can be all-inclusive or offer optional add-ons.
Service categories are the overall header of potentially multiple services you offer at your business. For example, you may have a Service Category titled Overnight Boarding that includes the Services titled Overnight Boarding Standard Suite and Overnight Boarding Luxury Suite.
This article will assist in setting up the individual Services such as Overnight Boarding Standard Suite and Overnight Boarding Luxury Suite. If you would like to set up the Boarding Service Category, please navigate to the article: Set Up Lodging-Based Service Category (Boarding).
Lodging-Based Services can be viewed in the following areas:
- Appointments tab
- Settings > Business Setup > Service Configuration
- Making a new appointment on the business portal
- Booking in mobile app or web link

Create a New Lodging-Based Service
1. Navigate to Settings > Business Setup > Service Configuration.
2. If you need to create a brand new category such as Boarding, please navigate to our article: Set Up Lodging-Based Service Category (Boarding). To add a new service under an existing category, click the category name in question to expand it.

3. In the Services column, click Add to add a new service.

4. In the Add Service popup, fill in the category details starting with Service Name (such as Boarding Standard Suite).

5. For Average Duration, enter the increment number of minutes that should display when creating or editing an appointment. For example, if the business is open for drop-offs from 7am-7pm daily and you set Average Duration to 30 (minutes), then the time slots visible when creating an appointment would show as 7:00am, 7:30am, 8:00am, 8:30am, etc.
If the individual service duration differs from the service category duration, then the individual service duration (entered here) will take precedence.

6. Optionally enter a brief description that will be visible to staff and customers when creating the booking.

7. Select a Calendar Display Color. This color will show throughout the business portal for any pets booked under this service.

8. For Hide this service from app and web appointment, only toggle this on if customers should not see this service. For display pricing details in app and web link, toggle this on if customers should see the price of the services in this service category.

9. If this service should be eligible for commission, toggle on Do you want to enable sales commission for this service? When you have confirmed all the settings, click Add.
